One Coach of Brahmaputra Mail derailed in Jharkhand. Four people died and 5 people injured. New Delhi-bound Brahmaputra Mail today collided with a goods train at Karonpuroto, about 25 km from Sahibganj.  Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh  for those killed and Rs. 50,000 for those seriously injured.

The driver, assistant driver and guard of the goods train that was involved in a mishap with the Brahmaputra Mail were among six staff members of Malda division of Eastern Railway suspended for alleged negligence on Wednesday.

Film producer and actor Dev Anand Passes away in a London Hospital. He was 88 years. His last film was “charge sheet.” He achieved many awards.

His last rites may be performed in London on Tuesday or  Wednesday an aide of Anand said.  It is however likely that the government of India via its  high commission in London will offer to take his body back to Mumbai. A final decision regarding this will be taken after his wife Kalpana Kartik and daughter Devina arrive in the British capital.

A four  storied building in Uttam Nagar, West Delhi collapsed today. Three died on the spot. Among the three dead are  two women and a child. Some injured are admitted to Deen Dayal Upadhya Hospital. Rescue work are in progress.  Still some are under debris.

A senior police official said there was some construction going on in the building. A family was living in one part of the building, he said, adding some labourers were also working at the site.

The mishap occured near Delhi Metro’s Pillar number 756.
